Long-tailed macaque spotted in Bukit Ampang

Long-tailed macaque or Macaca fascicularis (Kera in Malay language) has been spotted in Bukit Ampang. This and other macaque species are known generically as kera, possibly because of the high-pitched alarm calls they give when in danger ("krra! krra!").

It is also often referred to as the long-tailed macaque because its tail is usually about the same length as its body and because its long tail distinguishes it from most other macaques. The species is also commonly known as the crab-eating macaque because they are often seen foraging beaches for crabs.

Sometimes a group of them seem foraging the nearby neighbourhood looking for food.

Bukit Ampang

Where is the best place to view sunset view of KL? The answer is Bukit Ampang. Previously, you can have this view from the Ampang Lookout Point but sadly the place has been closed down for a reason.

Translation: Notice of Closure of Ampang Lookout Point. This area has been sealed with immediate effect. Violators will be prosecuted. Majlis Perbandaran Kajang (MPKj)

Until the place is open to public, you can have enjoy the beautiful Kuala Lumpur cityline landscape few metres away before the Lookout Point. You can have your teh tarik with maggi goreng, char kuey teow, etc from a group of small mobile food stalls located at the junction that leads to Taman Mulia Jaya, Ampang. Do drop by the place and check out the view yourself. It's breathtaking.

You can get here by car and taxi only. There is no bus service. Here is the map:
